Man facing drug charges following traffic stop

Drug charges have been field against one man in Florida. The man facing drug charges was arrested following a traffic stop on a recent Monday. A windshield that was broken led to the man's being stopped by police.

Police said that  little after 12:30 p.m., they stopped a pickup truck whose windshield was broken. The pickup was operated by a 37-year-old man and featured a tag for an SUV. Police said they noticed sweat forming on the man's forehead and saw the man's hands shaking.

The man reportedly gave police a vehicle registration that was expired and looked damaged. A K-9 unit allegedly sniffed the outside of the car and alerted police, which led to a search of the man's truck. Authorities also did a pat-down of the man and say they found tiny bags of what appeared to be meth, three prescription pills and a glass pipe. The man now faces several criminal charges, including possessing meth and intending to manufacture/deliver it, possessing drug paraphernalia, possessing a prescription drug with no prescription and having an attached tag that was not assigned to him.

Facing drug charges in Florida is a significant challenge, but the accusations must be proved beyond a reasonable doubt in a criminal courtroom before a conviction can be secured. This standard is in place in order to prevent innocent individuals from being wrongly convicted of crimes and punished accordingly. The evidence that the prosecution plans to present in court to support the charges will likely be a primary focal point for the criminal defense as this case heads to court.
