Child welfare case manager faces charges for several drug crimes

A 42-year-old Florida woman who was a case manager for a child welfare organization was recently removed from her position. This followed her arrest on charges of several drug crimes that were filed after a search warrant was executed at her home. She is awaiting a court hearing that is scheduled for January.

It was reported that deputies from the Brevard County Sheriff's Department arranged several undercover purchases of cocaine and heroin from the accused woman. This led to the search of the home and the subsequent charges that include trafficking in cocaine and heroin and possession with intent to sell methamphetamine. Furthermore, the search also apparently yielded three handguns that had been reported stolen, some marijuana and Oxycodone pills.

According to her former employers, the case manager was working on 17 cases that involved families and children, some of which dealt with adoption and foster care arrangements. All her cases will reportedly be reviewed and allocated to other case workers. If no conviction takes place, the defendant will have the right to appeal her dismissal from her job.

Drug crimes charges such as these faced by this Florida woman can have horrible consequences, and retaining the services of an attorney who is experienced in defending drug charges is the logical route to take. Accusations do not necessarily lead to a conviction, and until and unless the prosecution can prove this woman's guilt beyond a reasonable doubt, she will remain innocent before the court. A lawyer will advocate for the woman to ensure that she is treated impartially and fairly throughout the legal proceedings.
