Former teacher to face new claims of sex offenses

Many Florida readers are aware of a case in which a Lauderdale Lakes substitute teacher was charged with having sexual relations with multiple students. Just a week later, the 25-year-old man is back before the court, and is being accused of additional sex offenses, also involving underage female students. News of the teacher's arrest and the charges against him have led to outrage within the community.

The man worked as a substitute teacher for the Broward School District. He taught health and wellness classes at Anderson High School, and is not believed to have worked at any other school within the district. As of the time of this report, he has been banned from working at any school within Broward District.

According to police reports, the man is accused of having sex with as many as four teenage students. He has allegedly admitted to some of these acts. He apparently told authorities that he knew that his actions were wrong but that he was unable to stop himself. The sexual contact is believed to have taken place in the man's car and at his apartment. In addition, he is accused of exchanging sexually explicit photos with at least one of the girls. None of the acts appear to have been the result of force on the part of the teacher.

The 25-year-old Florida man is now charged with a form of sexual assault that takes place between an individual between 12 and 18 years of age and an adult who has custodial authority over the minor. These are very serious charges, and a conviction could lead to the man being placed on the list of registered sex offenders, as well as jail time and other punitive measures. As he prepares a legal response to these claims of sex offenses, those potential outcomes, as well as the impact on his future employment options, are likely a top concern.
